There's something special about the newest Michelob Ultra campaign that you can't help but stop and watch. Whether it's during a sporting event or an evening comedy, the ads featuring an unnamed ultra-suave actor have caught people's attention. But do you know who is theman behind this enigmatic role?
The actor responsible for this tempting character is John David Washington, a 35-year-old native of Los Angeles, California. While his natural charisma makes him perfect for this commercial, he has also managed to rack up some impressive credits in Hollywood along the way.
Washington started out as a television actor with appearances on shows such as HBO's "Ballers," FX's "The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story," and TBS's "People of Earth." In 2017, he took his career to the big screen, starring alongside Chadwick Boseman in the Oscar-winning movie "Black Panther." He followed that up with an even more acclaimed performance in 2018 as Ron Stallworth in Spike Lee's hit drama "BlacKkKlansman." He also starred opposite Zendaya and Alicia Vikander in the 2020 thriller "Malcolm & Marie."
But it was his work on the Michelob Ultra ad that won Washington fans all around the world – including many film industry competitors! By infusing a classic commercial with a hint of mystery and intrigue, Washington has successfully charmed audiences everywhere with his dapper take on masculinity.
His campaign isn't just about having a fun time either! Along with promoting Michelob Ultra, Washington also advocates for healthy living and responsible drinking habits. In an ad he posted on Instagram earlier this month, Washington reminded viewers to make responsible decisions about drinking alcohol – something he actually practices himself: "I love to have a good time but I value my health even more… Be sure to drink responsibly!"
